HOT PEAR CIDER
YIELDS 10 | PREP TIME 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
10 California Pears Halved
1 Orange Sliced
1 Cup Brown Sugar
4 Cinnamon Sitcks
3 tsp Whole All Spice
1 Star Anise
1 tsp Whole Cloves
1 Vanilla Bean Sliced in Half
10 Cups Water
INSTRUCTIONS
- Place your halved pear, orange slices, sugar, and spices in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add your water and ensure it covers all your ingredients. This should be about 10 cups.
- Bring to a boil uncovered for 1 hour.
- Cover and reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours.
- Using a potato masher or the back of a wooden spoon, mash to release the juices and flavors.
- Let the mixture slightly cool for about 1o minutes.
- Strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to discard any solids.
- Pour immediately to enjoy hot or refrigerate for a chilled drink on a summer day!
